You can clean the inside, the percolator tube and the filter with a mild detergent after every use. To prevent limescale from affecting the performance of your heating element, it is a good idea to descale the coffee percolator once in a while. Luckily, this is very easy with this appliance. Use a descaling agent or make your own mixture of water and vinegar, and bring the percolator to the boil. Let it soak for 15 minutes and then drain all the water. Lastly, make sure you rinse it well a few times to wash away the vinegar taste and smell. You can also wipe down the outside with a damp cloth and some warm water.
